What Do Pipefitters Do?
Pipefitters are skilled craftsmen who work with high-pressure systems. Also known as steamfitters, pipefitters are responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing intricate piping systems. These systems commonly carry fuel, steam, hydraulics, ventilation, and chemicals. Reading and understanding complex blueprints and schematics is often required. Pipefitting should not be confused with plumbing as pipefitters work with high-pressure systems whereas plumbers work with low-pressure ones.
