Job Description

  • Performs layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, operation, modification, and testing of experimental components, materials, apparatus and equipment at an advanced level
  • Sets up and operates equipment, test apparatus, test equipment and related equipment
  • Must be able to interpret blueprints and work sketches
  • Devises, fabricates and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies
  • Builds experimental apparatus, instrumentation or systems of considerable complexity
  • Evaluates the form, fit, and function of components, apparatus and equipment for adherence to project objectives
  • Records test procedures and results, performs routine analysis and calculations and makes recommendation for changes in equipment, product or test method
  • May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technicians
  • Participates in special projects as required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the fabrication, testing, and modification of mechanical components
  • Knowledge and ability to use the related tools, equipment, and systems
  • Must be able to pass drug test and background check

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of related experience fabricating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components
