Job Description

  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensures software standards are met.
  • Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
  • Problem Solving Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Discretion/Latitude Work is performed without appreciable direction.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
  • Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results.
  • Impact Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.

  • Liaison Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.
  • Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Requirements

  • 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
  • ACTIVE Confidential clearance is required.

Preferred

  • Participation in and leadership of software architectural design, development, and deployment is expected.
  • Use of software design (CASE) toolsets such as UML is expected.
  • Application of Object Oriented Programming with JAVA and/or C++ is expected.
  • Experience with customized Linux and Microsoft Windows Operating systems is beneficial.
  • Use of collaborative software tools (GIT, Subversion, ClearCase/ClearQuest, etc.) is preferred
