For our welders, these jobs mostly involve welding and riveting pieces together to create the vessels and containers as designed in the blueprints. Ship yard welding jobs, like other construction welding jobs, may be found in small companies, building boats and yachts or in the military, where they are concerned with constructing naval ships. As with our shipfitters, these skilled workers need to have expert knowledge of metallurgy, geometry and welding techniques, ability to read designs from diagrams and blueprints, manual dexterity and ability to operate power tools.
